In church one Sunday, my pastor spoke about fame culture, and how an obsession with being known by errybody drives us to depression, confusion, hopelessness. It’s so easy to find myself in this boat (shout out to all my enneagram 3s!). Through the last few years, this verse has been a convicting compass for my heart. If I find myself living in anxiety because I want to be known by many, searching for significance + value through widespread approval, I can know this for sure: nothing steals my contentment like self-absorption. It’s a powerful enemy. But, by the grace of God, my mind is being transformed. I can refuse the anxiety of fame culture by staring instead at the One who deserves the fame. I declare, often and daily, that He is the King Eternal. To Him belongs all honor. To Him belongs all glory. Forever and ever, amen.
